Funcionamiento cognitivo, ejecutivo y reserva cognitiva en ancianos con Deterioro Cognitivo Leve. Estudio correlacional

Introducción: El objetivo de la investigación fue describir la relación entre el funcionamiento cognitivo, el funcionamiento ejecutivo y la reserva cognitiva en adultos mayores cubanos con Deterioro Cognitivo Leve.
Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo-correlacional, tanseccional, en una muestra de 51 adultos mayores con Deterioro Cognitivo Leve. Se emplearon el INECO Frontal Screening, el MoCA, y la Escala de Reserva Cognitiva.
Resultados: Se encontraron correlaciones positivas entre el funcionamiento cognitivo y la reserva cognitiva (r = 0.407; p < 0.01), entre el funcionamiento cognitivo y los años de escolarización (r = 0.327; p < 0.01) y entre la reserva cognitiva y los años de escolarización (r = 0.277; p < 0.05). Se encontraron diferencias significativas en las variables, según los años de escolarización.

Introduction: The objective of this investigation was to describe the relationship between global cognitive functioning, executive functioning, and cognitive reserve in Cuban older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment.
Method: A descriptive-correlational, tansectional study was carried out from the quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 51 older adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The instruments used were the INECO Frontal Screening, the MoCA, and the Cognitive Reserve Scale.
Results: Positive correlations were found between cognitive functioning and cognitive reserve (r = 0.407; p <0.01), between cognitive functioning and years of schooling (r = 0.327; p <0.01) and between cognitive reserve and years of schooling (r = 0.277; p <0.05). Significant differences were found in the study variables according to the years of schooling criterion.
