Abstract
The tropical soda apple (Solanum viarum Dunal) is a weed considered native to tropical and subtropical areas. In Cuba it was detected in 2014, in the Sancti Spíritus province. The objective of the work was to evaluate the actions for the management of the S. viarum species present in the livestock agroecosystems of the Fomento municipality. The research was carried out between 2016 and 2021. It was carried out in the Victoria de Girón Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) in an area of 1ha. Preventive measures were applied, in addition to mechanical and physical control and chemical control. The application of preventive and cultural control measures managed to reduce the incidence of weeds from very heavy weeding to light weeding, starting in the 2nd year of evaluation. The herbicides Torban Pro 90GS and Torban LS 30.4 obtained a technical efficiency greater than 92% effectiveness in controlling S. viarum. The implementation of preventive measures linked to cultural control actions and the application of herbicides allows maintaining low rates of S. viarum infestation in the livestock agroecosystems of the Fomento municipality.
Resumen
La manzana de soda tropical (Solanum viarum Dunal) es una arvense considerada nativa de la zonas tropicales y subtropicales, en Cuba se detectó en el año 2014, en la provincia Sancti Spíritus. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar las acciones para el manejo de la especie S. viarum presente en los agroecosistemas ganaderos del municipio Fomento. La investigación se realizó entre los años 2016 y 2021. La misma se desarrolló en la Cooperativa de Producción Agropecuaria (CPA) Victoria de Girón en un área de 1ha. Se aplicaron medidas preventivas, además del control mecánico y físico y el control químico. La aplicación de las medidas preventivas y de control cultural logró disminuir la incidencia de la maleza de un enmalezamiento muy pesado a enmalezamiento ligero, a partir 2do año de evaluación. Los herbicidas Torban Pro 90GS y Torban LS 30,4 obtuvieron una eficiencia técnica superior al 92 % de efectividad en el control del S. viarum. La implementación de medidas preventivas vinculadas con acciones de control cultural y la aplicación de los herbicidas, permiten mantener bajos índices de infestación de S. viarum en los agroecosistemas ganaderos del municipio Fomento.
