Summary of the content: The course includes an introduction to Digital Image Processing (DIP) and Computer Vision (CV) as tools for the study of biomedical images. The main characteristics of radiological images and some types of color images that are also used in medicine will be described. A set of algorithms and methods developed at the Image and Signal Processing and Analysis Laboratory (PAIS) of the Computer Science Research Center (CII) at UCLV will be described. Such algorithms and methods aims to contribute to our health system in the study of mammography images, fundus images, hip and thorax radiographs, diabetic foot ulcer and cell microscopy.
