The strategic projection of the Ministry of Higher Education advocates for an innovative university that contributes to progress, quality of life and sustainable economic-social development. In this sense, the teaching of English in Cuban Higher Education has been immersed in constant transformations to achieve mastery of this language based on the comprehensive training of professionals. An important theme is environmental education, which reveals the following Problematic: the importance of harmonizing the curricular strategy of English and that of environmental education due to the existing lacks in the interrelation and implementation of both strategies leading to the following Objective: To offer teachers of English a necessary tool to strengthen the treatment of environmental education through the English language curricular strategy using texts related to environmental issues linked to the different specialties. The methodology used assumed a mixed approach where theoretical and empirical methods were used, as well as percentage analysis. As Results, different theoretical positions are contrasted and assumed as basics of a system of tasks for the treatment of environmental education with assessment activities in readings in English for students of the 2nd year of the Hydraulic Engineering Major of the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas. As Conclusions it is evident that through the application of the system it was possible to strengthen environmental education through the contents of the programs of the English language disciplines from an arduous methodological work of the teachers.
La proyección estratégica del Ministerio de Educación Superior aboga por una universidad innovadora que contribuya al progreso, calidad de vida y desarrollo económico-social sostenible. En este sentido la enseñanza del inglés en la Educación Superior Cubana, ha estado inmersa en constantes transformaciones para lograr dominio de este idioma en función de la formación integral de los profesionales. Una temática importante es la educación ambiental , lo que revela la siguiente Problemática: la importancia de armonizar la estrategia curricular de inglés y la de educación ambiental debido a las carencias existentes en la interrelación e implementación de ambas estrategias llevando al siguiente Objetivo: Ofrecer a los docentes de inglés una herramienta necesaria para fortalecer el tratamiento de la educación ambiental a través de la estrategia curricular de idioma inglés utilizando textos relacionados con temáticas ambientales afines a las diferentes especialidades. La Metodología utilizada asumió un enfoque mixto donde se utilizaron métodos del nivel teórico y del empírico así como el análisis porcentual. Como Resultados se contrastan y asumen diferentes posiciones teóricas que fundamentan un sistema de tareas para el tratamiento de la educación ambiental con actividades evaluativas en lecturas en idioma inglés para estudiantes del 2do año de la carrera Ingeniería Hidráulica de la Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas. Como Conclusiones se evidencia que mediante la aplicación del sistema fue posible fortalecer la educación ambiental a través de los contenidos de los programas de las disciplinas de idioma inglés a partir de un arduo trabajo metodológico de los docentes.
