The use of the Moodle Platform in the Master of Education at the University of Cienfuegos

The challenges of assuming distance education at the University of Cienfuegos, conditioned the need to adapt the didactic resources and teaching and learning strategies based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The objective of this work is to present the experiences in the implementation of the Educational Psychology course belonging to the Master in Education of the Center for Studies of Didactics and Higher Education Management (CEDDES) of the University of Cienfuegos, developed through the Moodle Platform. For this, a strategy was drawn up consisting of actions which were aimed at consciously planning the course and was structured in three stages that are planning, execution and evaluation. The qualitative approach was predominantly used, guided by a participatory action research method. The methods and techniques used were: document analysis; in-depth interviews and discussion groups with teachers and teachers. The methodological triangulation made it possible to contrast the different methods and data sources with the corresponding collection of information. The results allowed to demonstrate that it contributed to the increase of motivation in the students, who were protagonists and responsible for their learning. The authors consider it necessary to continue researching in relation to the cooperative practices of students in distance education and to follow up over time the strategy put into practice in order to verify the medium and long-term transformations that have occurred in teachers.

Los retos al asumir la educación a distancia en la Universidad de Cienfuegos, condicionaron la necesidad de adecuar los recursos didácticos y las estrategias de enseñanza y aprendizaje basadas en las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TIC).Teniendo en cuenta ello, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo exponer las experiencias en la implementación del curso Psicología Educativa perteneciente a la Maestría en Educación del Centro de Estudios de la Didáctica y Dirección de la Educación Superior (CEDDES) de la Universidad de Cienfuegos, desarrollado mediante la Plataforma Moodle. Para ello se trazó una estrategia conformada por acciones las cuales estuvieron dirigidas a planificar de forma consciente el curso y se estructuró en tres etapas que son planificación, ejecución y evaluación. Se utilizó predominantemente el enfoque cualitativo, guiado por un método de investigación acción participativa. Los métodos y técnicas utilizados fueron: el análisis de documentos; entrevistas en profundidad y grupos de discusión con los docentes y maestrantes. La triangulación metodológica permitió contrastar los diferentes métodos y fuentes de datos con la correspondiente recogida de información. Los resultados permitieron demostrar que contribuyó al incremento de la motivación en los estudiantes, los cuales fueron protagonistas y responsables de su aprendizaje. Los autores consideran necesario continuar investigando en relación con las prácticas cooperativas de los estudiantes en la educación a distancia y darle seguimiento en el tiempo a la estrategia puesta en práctica con la finalidad de constatar las transformaciones a mediano y largo plazo ocurridas en los maestrantes.
