Methodology for studies of circular economy and value chains in sugar agro-industrial companies

Abstract

There are no methodological tools available to carry out studies of circular economy and value chains in agro-industrial sugar companies and the objective define the methodology for the studies of circular economy and value chains, as well as the initial results in the sugar agro-industrial company ¨Heriberto Duquesne ¨ that allow validating the defined tool. The work presents the design of the methodology for the studies of circular economy and value chains, which is validated through its application in the agro-industrial sugar company ¨Heriberto Duquesne¨. With the application of the proposed methodology, the 10 new products that can be formed from agribusiness waste, the general process map of said products, as well as the respective value chains that are designed, were determined. The proposed methodology constitutes an innovation of circular economy studies by combining these with the definitions of the corresponding value chains, which is validated by partial application in the Agroindustrial Sugar Company "Heriberto Duquesne" and where it shows great potential. that has, with the inclusion of 10 new products, with the reuse of some for the benefit of sugar cane, with the corresponding increase in environmental benefits due to the reduction of waste

Resumen

No se dispone de herramientas metodológicas para realizar estudios de economía circular y cadenas de valor en empresas agroindustriales azucareras, siendo el
objetivo, definir la metodología para los estudios de economía circular y cadenas de valor, así como los resultados iniciales en la empresa agroindustrial azucarera ¨Heriberto Duquesne ¨ que permiten validar la herramienta definida. El trabajo presenta el diseño de la metodología para los estudios de economía circular y cadenas de valor, el cual se valida mediante su aplicación en la empresa agroindustrial azucarera ¨Heriberto Duquesne¨ . Con la aplicación de la metodología propuesta se determinó los 10 nuevos productos que se podrán conformar a partir de los residuos de la agroindustria, el mapa de proceso general de dichos productos, así como las respectivas cadenas de valor que se diseñan. La metodología propuesta constituye una innovación de los estudios de economía circular al combinar estos con las definiciones de las cadenas de valor correspondientes, lo que se valida mediante la aplicación parcial en la Empresa Agroindustrial Azucarera “Heriberto Duquesne” y donde muestra las grandes potencialidades que dispone, con la inclusión de 10 nuevos productos, con la reutilización de algunos para beneficio de la caña de azúcar, con el correspondiente aumento de de los beneficios ambientales por la disminución de los residuos
