Abstract
Problem: The research included older adults with knee osteoarthrosis treated with platelet-rich plasma. Psychological well-being is assumed from a multidimensional eudaimonic position. Objectives: To characterize the psychological well-being of older adult patients diagnosed with osteoarthrosis of the knee subject to treatment with platelet-rich plasma. To identify the main clinical manifestations and radiological signs in older adults diagnosed with osteoarthrosis of the knee. To describe the particularities of the different dimensions of psychological well-being of the patients investigated.
Methodology: Through an ex post facto study we aimed to identify the main clinical manifestations and radiological signs in the investigated patients and to describe in them the particularities of psychological well-being.
Results and discussion: The group of older adults with a diagnosis of grade III osteoarthrosis of the knee was predominant. All patients reported pain, swelling, joint stiffness of the affected knee and limitations in their functional capacity as the most frequent symptoms, with a tendency to take multiple medications related to this disease. The most frequent comorbidity was arterial hypertension. In relation to psychological well-being, the dimensions explored showed that the generality of patients presented average levels in all the dimensions explored, with mastery of the environment being the most affected, followed by autonomy, which is related to the limitations that knee osteoarthrosis imposes on the patient. Conclusions: The multidimensional study of psychological well-being in older adults with a diagnosis of knee osteoarthrosis showed average levels tributary to comprehensive actions for its empowerment.
Resumen
Problemática: La investigación incluyó adultos mayores con osteoartrosis de rodilla, tratados con plasma rico en plaquetas. Se asume el bienestar psicológico desde un posicionamiento eudaimónico multidimensional. Objetivos: Caracterizar el bienestar psicológico de pacientes adultos mayores con diagnóstico de osteoartrosis de rodilla, sujetos a tratamiento con plasma rico en plaquetas. Identificar las principales manifestaciones clínicas y signos radiológicos en adultos mayores con diagnóstico de osteoartrosis de rodilla. Describir las particularidades de las diferentes dimensiones del bienestar psicológico de los pacientes investigados.
Metodología: A través de un estudio ex post facto se propuso identificar las principales manifestaciones clínicas y signos radiológicos en los pacientes investigados y describir en ellos las particularidades del bienestar psicológico.
Resultados y discusión: Predominó el grupo de adultos mayores con diagnóstico de osteoartrosis de rodilla con grado III. La totalidad de los pacientes refirió como síntomas más frecuentes dolor, inflamación, rigidez articular de la rodilla afectada y limitaciones en su capacidad funcional, con tendencia al consumo de múltiples medicamentos relacionados con esta enfermedad. La comorbilidad más frecuente fue la hipertensión arterial. En relación con el bienestar psicológico, la dimensiones exploradas mostró que la generalidad de los pacientes presentó niveles medios en todas las dimensiones exploradas, siendo el dominio del entorno la más afectada, seguida de la autonomía, lo cual se relaciona con las limitaciones que la osteoartrosis de rodilla impone al paciente. Conclusiones: El estudio multidimensional del bienestar psicológico en adultos mayores con diagnóstico de osteoartrosis de rodilla mostró niveles medios tributarios de acciones integrales para su potenciación.
