Abstract
Agriculture has the enormous task of guaranteeing healthy food, fiber and energy, for a world population that is expected to reach close to 9 billion people by 2050. To achieve this objective, the UN and FAO have developed objectives and work strategies to carry out profound transformations in the agricultural production process where Technological Innovation promoted by New Information Technologies, Automation and Communications play a relevant role. Precision Agriculture, Smart Agriculture are the foundations of this process in Agriculture, these are known as Digital Agriculture. The different tools used by Digital Agriculture are discussed in this conference highlighting their use and importance for modern agriculture. Finally, reference is made to the importance of this process for Cuban agriculture and the role of universities to achieve this objective.
Resumen
La Agricultura tiene la enorme tarea de garantizar alimentos sanos, fibras y energía, para una población mundial que se espera que en 2050 alcance una cifra cercana a las 9 mil millones de personas. Para lograr este objetivo la ONU y la FAO han elaborado objetivos y estrategias de trabajo para realizar profundas transformaciones en el proceso de producción agrícola donde la Innovación Tecnológica impulsada por las Nuevas Tecnologías de la Informática, la Automatización y las Comunicaciones juegan un papel relevante. La Agricultura de Precisión, la Agricultura Inteligente son las bases de este proceso en la Agricultura, estas son conocidas como Agricultura Digital. Las diferentes herramientas usadas por la Agricultura Digital son tratadas en esta conferencia destacando su uso e importancia para la agricultura moderna. Finalmente se hace referencia a la importancia que reviste este proceso para la agricultura cubana y el papel de las universidades para alcanzar este objetivo.
