Abstract
The non-woven geotextiles are used in the separation of the layers of pavements to avoid the contamination of the materials and the weakening of the structure. In order to study the behavior of different non-woven geotextiles in pavements an equipment has been created made up of a bipartite cylinder of 20 cm in diameter and 37 cm in height, where the materials are deposited in layers, initially the floor of the subgrade, then the geotextile and the gravel that simulates the base. On top of the last layer a metal plate is placed connected to a hydraulic system that applies a cyclic load of 10 kN with a frequency of 1 Hz; the pressures in the subgrade layer are measured using pressure transducers. Different non-woven geotextiles were tested and show good performance in road pavements.
