XV International Workshop “Communities 2023: history and development”

COMMUNITIES

Central theme: Community innovation for sustainable development.

The Center of Community Studies, commemorating its twenty years doing science and inspired by the challenges of the 2030 Agenda, invite to participate in the XV International Workshop "Communities: History and Development" to be held within the framework of the IV International Scientific Convention of the Central University "Marta Abreu" from Las Villas, from November 13 to 17, 2023.
The Workshop will have as its main axis the importance of social innovation as a source of development and the protagonism of the participation and cooperation of social subjects for emancipatory social transformation, assumed in a community key.
The debate on community social innovation from a transdisciplinary approach, broadens the horizons of discussion towards political, economic, cultural, labor, environmental, demographic, and gender mediations, among others; and its expression in the various aspects of daily social praxis.

  • Challenges of innovation in the face of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
  • Governance of communities with popular participation.
  • Innovative management of socioeconomic and demographic dynamics.
  • Culture, heritage and memory. Synergies with tourism.
  • Social and solidarity economies as a development alternative.
  • Technology, society and knowledge management.
  • Social challenges of industry, energy, food and health.
  • Labor transformations, challenges, policies and tensions. Industry 4.0 and its impacts on the world of work.
  • Public policies for employment in terms of equity.
  • Feminisms and sustainability, a new logic to think about life.
  • Community resilience in the face of climate change.
  • Challenges of life in networks.
  • Communication for social change from community action. New technological, political, psychosocial and sociocultural convergences.
  • Social responsibility of the University for social innovation and development.

There will be master lectures, panels, workshops, pre- and post-event short courses and other activities with a multidisciplinary and intersectoral profile.
You can participate with presentations, posters and audiovisual materials, in person or online.
Researchers, Academics, Teachers, Entrepreneurs, Government policy makers, Students, and other social actors may participate.
