EFFICACY OF HYDROTHERMAL TREATMENT IN SUGAR CANE PRODUCTION AND CONTROL OF XANTHOMONAS ALBILINEA IN CATEGORIZED SUGAR CANE SEEDS

Abstract

The efficiency of the hydrothermal treatment was determined in the seed reproduced by cuttings, for which an experiment was planted in Sancti Spíritus in November 2018, harvested in plant cane and sapling at 10 months of age. Three hydrothermal treatments (50.5 ºC 3 horas (Control), 50.5 ºC 2 horas y 51 ºC 1 horas) were evaluated in five cultivars C86-12, C86-156, C90-469, C98-357 y CP52-43. The variables studied were diagnosis by UMELISA against foliar scald, staining of the xylem vessels (ex officio diagnosis) and agricultural yield. A randomized block design with three replications was used, and analysis of variance, comparison of means and conglomerate tests were performed. The results showed that the treatment of 51 ºC at 1 hour was superior in cane production, that there were no differences in the diagnosis by UMELISA, in the ex officio diagnosis all the samples reached more than 85% aptitude and the feasibility of the first shoot as seed, there were economic gains.

Resumen

Se determinó la eficacia del tratamiento hidrotérmico en la semilla reproducida por esquejes para lo que se plantó un experimento en Sancti Spíritus en noviembre de 2018, cosechado en caña planta y retoño con 10 meses de edad. Fueron evaluados tres tratamientos hidrotérmico (50.5 ºC 3 horas (Control), 50.5 ºC 2 horas y 51 ºC 1 hora), en cinco cultivares C86-12, C86-156, C90-469, C98-357 y CP52-43. Las variables estudiadas fueron diagnóstico por UMELISA ante la Escaldadura foliar, tinción de los vasos del xilema (diagnóstico de oficio) y rendimiento agrícola. Se empleó el diseño de bloque al azar con tres repeticiones y se realizaron análisis de varianza,  prueba de comparación de medias y de Conglomerados. Los resultados ofrecieron que el tratamiento de 51 ºC a 1 hora resultó superior en la producción de caña, que no hubo diferencias en el diagnóstico por UMELISA, en el diagnóstico de oficio  todas las muestras  alcanzaron más del 85 % de aptitud y la factibilidad de la soca o primer retoño como semilla, hubo ganancias económicas.
