Evaluation of phytogenetic resources new of (Saccharum spp. hybrid) introduced in drought conditions in Cuba.

Abstract

Problematic: Restricted the expansion of the genetic base due to the scarce incorporation of foreign material and incomplete characterization.

 Objective: To evaluate the agrosugar behavior of eight foreign genotypes of sugarcane, under drought conditions in the Holguin province.

 Methodology: An experiment was planted with eight foreign cultivars of sugarcane, recently introduced in Cuba, and two controls were used. The harvest variables that indicate sugar content, agricultural and sugar yield were evaluated. In addition, the behavior of the cultivars against the main diseases that attack the crop in natural conditions and the beginning of flowering were observed. Two harvest were carried out and with the data from them, analyzes of variance and multiple compatisons of means were carried out when there were significant differences.

 Results and discussion: the analysis of variance carried out at each harvest showed significant differences between the cultivars for the variables of agricultural and sugar yield, in the case of the sugar content variable, there were only significant differences between the cultivars in the ratoon strain. Most of the cultivars in studies have a high sugar content, since all the cultivars except V64-16 in the ratoon strain, showed sugar behavior similar to control C1051-73.

 Conclusions: CR87-339 cultivar achieved the best results in the three harvest variables evaluated and consistently in both harvest cycle under study, also standing out the cultivars Mex83-416 and Mex83-210.

Resumen

Problemática: Restringida la ampliación de la base genética por la escasa incorporación de material foráneo e incompleta caracterización.

Objetivo: Evaluar el comportamiento agroazucarero de ocho genotipos foráneos de caña de azúcar, en condiciones de secano en la provincia Holguín.

Metodología: Se plantó un experimento con ocho cultivares foráneos de caña de azúcar, de reciente introducción en Cuba y se emplearon dos testigos. Se evaluaron las variables de cosecha que indican contenido azucarero, rendimiento agrícola y azucarero. Además, se observó el comportamiento de los cultivares ante las principales enfermedades que atacan al cultivo en condiciones naturales y el inicio de la floración. Se realizaron dos cosechas y con los datos de las mismas se realizaron análisis de varianza y comparaciones múltiple de medias cuando existieron diferencias significativas.

Resultados y discusión: El análisis de varianza realizado a cada cosecha mostró diferencias significativas entre los cultivares para las variables de rendimiento agrícola y azucarero, para el caso de la variable contenido azucarero solo existieron diferencias significativas entre los cultivares en la cepa de retoño. La mayoría de los cultivares en estudio son de alto contenido azucarero, pues todos los cultivares, excepto V64-16 en la cepa retoño, mostraron comportamiento azucarero similar al testigo C1051-73.

Conclusiones: El cultivar CR87-339 alcanzó los mejores resultados en las tres variables de cosecha evaluadas y de manera consistente en ambas cepas en estudio, destacándose también los cultivares Mex83-416 y Mex83-210.
