Abstract
The objective of the study was to analyze the factors that negatively affect the hatchability of the fertile egg in the incubation process. The study was carried out from January to December 2022, at the UEB Productores y Alternativa, belonging to the Union of Companies of the National Poultry Combination of the province of Villa Clara; which is in charge of the incubation of eggs from free-range and Creole hens. A retrospective analysis of the statistical data on the hatchability of the fertile egg was made, an evaluation of the causes and conditions that influenced the hatchability of the fertile egg and the main sanitary and management gaps in the process of artificial incubation of the fertile egg were identified. . The causes that negatively affect the hatchability of the fertile egg in the hatchery is the obsolescence of the plant's technology, which affects to a certain extent the effectiveness of the management of fertile eggs. No sanitary or management gaps were detected in the process of artificial incubation of the fertile egg. Free-range birds show a higher percentage of unfit and clear eggs than native birds, and the latter show a higher percentage of chicks hatched (incubability) and a greater number of chicks hatched.
