The benefits provided by so-called citizen science and its almost nonexistent use in the control and monitoring of water quality in Cuba is the issue addressed by this research; its implementation constitutes a fundamental tool for the protection and conservation of this resource. The aim is to propose a procedure that links the tools of demoscience in order to monitor the physicochemical characteristics of this precious liquid in Cuba. With a qualitative research approach, a theoretical study is conducted as a background to the investigated topic. The use of methods at this level allowed the study of previous cases through a search and review of successful projects worldwide, where their structures and results are reflected on public science websites for water control. The study conducted using research processes on success cases in water quality monitoring with the application of citizen science laid the foundations and established a procedure for water quality monitoring with the implementation of citizen science in Cuba, which responds to the needs for its implementation in the Cuban context and to the requirements for this type of monitoring at a global level.

Las bondades que brinda la llamada ciencia ciudadana y su casi nulo empleo en el control y monitoreo de la calidad del agua en Cuba es la problemática que aborda esta investigación, su utilización constituye una herramienta fundamental para la protección y conservación de este recurso. Con el objetivo de proponer un procedimiento que permita vincular las herramientas de la demociencia en función del monitoreo de las características fisco-químico del preciado líquido en Cuba. Con un enfoque cualitativo de investigación donde se realiza un estudio teórico como antecedente de la temática investigada. La utilización de los métodos a este nivel, permitió el estudio casos previos a partir de la realización de una búsqueda y revisión de proyectos de éxito a nivel mundial, donde sus estructuras y resultados sen ven reflejados en páginas webs sobre ciencia pública para el control de las aguas. El estudio realizado a partir de la utilización de los procesos de investigación sobre casos de éxito en el monitoreo de la calidad del agua con la aplicación de la ciencia ciudadana sentó las bases y se realizó elaboración de un procedimiento para el monitoreo de la calidad del agua con la implementación de la ciencia ciudadana en Cuba, que responde a las necesidades de su implementación en el contexto cubano y con las exigencias para este tipo de monitoreo a nivel mundial.
