Problem: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease, influenced by psychosocial factors that have been related to adherent behavior, which reduces treatment costs and improves the clinical condition of patients. Therapeutic adherence in women diagnosed with Pregestational Diabetes Mellitus also guarantees the health of the future baby.
• Objective(s): Describe the psychosocial factors associated with therapeutic adherence in pregnant women hospitalized with a diagnosis of Pregestational Diabetes Mellitus at the Mariana Grajales Provincial Hospital in Santa Clara.
• Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, assuming a quantitative research paradigm. The sample was made up of 32 patients. For the collection of information, instruments such as the Questionnaire of adherence to treatment and family support, Questionnaire of adaptive response to the disease, Questionnaire of knowledge about the disease DKQ 24, the Experiential Self-report Scale and the review of the Clinical History were used.
• Results and discussion: Pregnant women were predominantly between 26-35 years of age, in this range the largest number of patients with good therapeutic adherence were found. Pregnant women with a higher level of education and who maintained a stable relationship had good adherence. The sample was between 1-5 years of evolution of the disease.
• Conclusions: It was shown that therapeutic adherence was oriented more to drug treatment than to the practice of physical exercises and diet monitoring. Psychosocial factors such as family support, knowledge of the disease, adaptive response and emotional states were associated with therapeutic adherence.
• Problemática: La diabetes mellitus es una enfermedad crónica, influenciada por factores psicosociales que se han relacionado con un comportamiento adherente, el cual disminuye costos de tratamiento y mejora la condición clínica de los pacientes. La adherencia terapéutica en mujeres con diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus Pregestacional garantiza también la salud del futuro bebé.
• Objetivo(s): Describir los factores psicosociales que se asocian a la adherencia terapéutica en gestantes hospitalizadas con diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus Pregestacional en el Hospital Provincial Mariana Grajales de Santa Clara.
• Metodología: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, asumiendo un paradigma de investigación cuantitativo. La muestra quedó conformada por 32 pacientes. Para la recogida de información se emplearon instrumentos como Cuestionario de adherencia al tratamiento y apoyo familiar, Cuestionario de respuesta adaptativa a la enfermedad, Cuestionario de conocimientos sobre la enfermedad DKQ 24, la Escala Autorreporte vivencial y la revisión de la Historia Clínica.
• Resultados y discusión: Las gestantes predominantemente estaban entre 26-35 años de edad, en este rango se encontraron la mayor cantidad de pacientes con buena adherencia terapéutica. Las gestantes con nivel de escolaridad superior, y que mantenían una relación de pareja estable tenían buena adherencia. La muestra se encontraba entre 1-5 años de evolución de la enfermedad.
• Conclusiones: Se demostró que la adherencia terapéutica estaba orientada más al tratamiento farmacológico que a la práctica de ejercicios físicos y al seguimiento de la dieta. Se asociaron a la adherencia terapéutica factores psicosociales como apoyo familiar, conocimientos de la enfermedad, respuesta adaptativa y estados emocionales.
