International Conference of Industrial Engineering
CINDUS 2019
The incessantly growing exchange rate of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) products causes severe consequences for the environment and our society as a whole. Current devices need additional sustainability oriented measures to enable a responsible and holistic consumption perspective. An extended Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of traditional ICT products, one that goes beyond the traditional efficiency oriented perspective, is required. A comprehensive literature research for an extensive LCA of ICT products is conducted and followed by an argumentative-deductive analysis to develop an enhanced collaboration channel for the consumer via an ICT based platform. The results extend the traditionally applied efficiency oriented ICT development by sustainability oriented participation utensils for all stakeholders along the lifecycle of a product and adds long-term and responsibility focused methods to traditionally closed development approaches.
