IV Workshop “Challenges of Education 2025”
• Problem: Research skills are fundamental tasks in the teaching-learning process and allow for the solution of health problems through the scientific method. The deficiencies of anesthesiology and resuscitation residents led the author to conduct this study.
• Objective(s): To characterize the research skills of anesthesiology and resuscitation residents in the province of Villa Clara.
• Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at the Arnaldo Milián Castro University Clinical-Surgical Hospital in Santa Clara from September 2023 to December 2024. The following theoretical methods were used: historical-logical, analytical-synthetic, and inductive-deductive; empirical methods: document analysis; and mathematical/statistical methods: descriptive statistics.
• Results and discussion: The study identified that anesthesiology and resuscitation residents have limitations in searching for relevant information regarding the research topic and reviewing the literature. Shortcomings in the identification and formulation of the scientific problem, the determination and operationalization of the study variables, and the oral defense of the reports. Key achievements include: the adequate determination of the universe and sample for the study, the correct selection of empirical methods, and the development of the corresponding instruments.
• Conclusions: The characterization of the research skills of anesthesiology and resuscitation residents in the province of Villa Clara confirmed both strengths and weaknesses in their research performance, as well as the main influencing causes.
• Problemática: las habilidades investigativas constituyen tareas fundamentales del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje, permiten la solución de los problemas de salud a través del método científico. Las carencias en los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación condujo al autor a la realización del estudio.
• Objetivo(s): caracterizar las habilidades investigativas de los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación de la provincia de Villa Clara.
• Metodología: se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en el Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Universitario “Arnaldo Milián Castro” de Santa Clara en el periodo comprendido de septiembre del 2023 a diciembre del 2024. Se emplearon métodos teóricos: histórico-lógico, analítico-sintético, inductivo-deductivo; empíricos: análisis de documentos; matemático/estadísticos: estadística descriptiva.
• Resultados y discusión: El estudio identificó que los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación presentan limitaciones para la búsqueda de información relevante respecto al tema de investigación y la revisión de la bibliografía; carencias para la identificación y formulación del problema científico, la determinación y operacionalización de las variables del estudio y la defensa oral de los informes. Entre los principales aciertos se encuentran: la adecuada determinación del universo y la muestra de estudio, la correcta selección de los métodos empíricos y elaboración de los instrumentos correspondientes.
• Conclusiones: La caracterización de las habilidades investigativas de los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación de la provincia de Villa Clara constató que existen potencialidades y carencias en su desempeño investigativo, así como, las principales causas influyentes.
