“Cryptocurrencies in Cuba. Its importance in the economy ”.

This article is titled “Cryptocurrencies in Cuba. Its importance in the economy ”. Its objective is to expose the main elements that characterize cryptocurrencies, emphasizing their use, legal regulation and importance for the Cuban economy. The development of new technologies brings with it the appearance of digital assets in the world, which have enjoyed great popularity in recent times, all conditioned by the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV 2 virus (Covid 19) that has forced the world population to remain isolated in their homes and change their way of life, giving prominence to the use of this type of currency. Our country presents a similar situation; all this together with the ironclad economic and financial bloc imposed by the United States of America that forces us to seek different ways to continue developing ourselves. In this way, a study is carried out on the use of this type of asset in our country, as well as the new Resolution 215 of 2021 of the Central Bank of Cuba that recognizes it, determining its great importance for the Cuban economy as an alternative to the system current monetary.

El presente artículo se titula “Las criptomonedas en Cuba. Su importancia en la economía”. Tiene como objetivo exponer los principales elementos que caracterizan a las criptomonedas haciendo énfasis en su uso, regulación jurídica e importancia para la economía cubana. El desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías trae consigo la aparición de los activos digitales en el mundo, los cuales gozan de gran popularidad en los últimos tiempos, todo ello condicionado por la pandemia provocada por el virus SARS- CoV 2 (Covid 19) que ha obligado a la población mundial a quedarse aislados en sus viviendas y cambiar su forma de vida, dándole preeminencia al uso de este tipo de monedas. Nuestro país presenta similar situación; todo ello unido al férreo bloque económico y financiero impuesto por los Estados Unidos de América que nos obliga a buscar diferentes vías para seguir desarrollándonos. De esta forma se realiza un estudio sobre el uso de este tipo de activo en nuestro país, así como de la nueva Resolución 215 de 2021 del Banco Central de Cuba que lo reconoce, determinándose su gran importancia para la economía cubana como una alternativa al sistema monetario actual.
