The visual arts in Villa Clara: challenges for their viability in local development

The visual arts in Villa Clara have a high human and artistic potential; The artists of the region are diverse in terms of origins, styles and schools and their works present a remarkable quality and results. The rise and permanence that popular art has had in the center of the country as a rich tangible and intangible heritage of traditions, customs, myths and sociocultural imaginary endorse this potential, to which has been added the training and professional production of the academies of art of the province.

However, there are many problems that arise in this area that limit its total development, so this work aims to characterize some of these problems from the theory of local development, in order to contribute to the viability of the visual arts in Villa Clara as a significant exponent of the region.

Las artes visuales en Villa Clara poseen un alto potencial humano y artístico; los artistas de la región son diversos en cuanto a procedencias, estilos y escuelas y sus obras presentan una calidad y resultados notorios. El auge y la permanencia que ha tenido en el centro del país el arte popular como rico patrimonio tangible e intangible de tradiciones, costumbres, mitos e imaginarios socioculturales avalan dicho potencial, a lo que se ha sumado la formación y producción profesional de las academias de arte de la provincia.

Sin embargo, muchas son las problemáticas que se presentan en esta área que limitan su total desarrollo, por lo que este trabajo tiene como objetivo caracterizar algunas de estas problemáticas desde la teoría del desarrollo local, con la finalidad de constribuir en la viabilidad de las artes visuales en Villa Clara como exponente significativo de la región.
