Religion as social control of crime: Particularities of the OSHA-IFA rule

This article addresses the issue of the Controlling Incidence of antisociality and crime based on the influence of the Osha-Ifa Rule on its parishioners. It seeks to demonstrate the appreciable prevention and repression of criminal behavior exercised by the Osha-Ifa Rule as a normative system for the Social Control of antisociality and crime. As a theoretical method, the legal theory was applied, while in the practical order, documentary analysis and the semi-structured interview technique were applied, all of which allowed to demonstrate the presence of crime prevention and repression that takes place in the literary corpus of Ifa, coinciding with the protection of most of the legal assets protected by the Cuban penal code, the impact of said normative system on the parishioners of a delimited social sector such as the Popular Council Hospital-Chambery de Santa Clara was also assessed. The importance of this research lies in the fact that although in Cuba there are several investigations about the Rule of Osha-Ifa religion, throughout history there has been a tendency to associate it with behavioral deviations and not to recognize it as a normative system of Social Control.

El presente artículo aborda el tema de la Incidencia Controladora de la antisocialidad y la delincuencia a partir de la influencia de la Regla de Osha - Ifa en sus feligreses. El mismo persigue demostrar la apreciable prevención y represión de conductas delictivas que ejerce la Regla de Osha - Ifa como sistema normativo del Control Social de la antisocialidad y la delincuencia. Como método teórico se aplicó el teórico jurídico, mientras que en el orden práctico se aplicó el análisis documental y la técnica de entrevista semiestructurada , todo lo cual permitió demostrar la presencia de la prevención y represión de delitos que se lleva a cabo en el corpus literario de Ifa coincidiendo en la protección de la mayoría de los bienes jurídicos protegidos por el código penal cubano, también se valoró el impacto de dicho sistema normativo en los feligreses de un sector social delimitado como es el Consejo Popular Hospital-Chambery de Santa Clara. La importancia de la presente investigación radica en que si bien en Cuba existen varias investigaciones sobre la religión Regla de Osha-Ifa, a lo largo de la historia se evidencia una tendencia a asociarla con desviaciones conductuales y no reconocerla como sistema normativo del Control Social.
