Simposio Internacional “Desarrollo Humano, Equidad y Justicia Social"
In Cuba, economic studies seen through history have covered areas like the
sugar industry, business, and public services. Regarding public services,
coasting shipment is analyzed, this means of transportation is used in the island
to make up for the indispensable communication among the different regions in
our area. This coasting shipping gathers both, people transportation and
commercial trade, so it is a key component for the understanding of the Cuban
history since it became a major issue for the economic development of our
country. This research is aimed at illustrating how Jagua coasting shipment
contributed to a prominent economic growth in the central-southern part of Cuba
at the time that eventually involved the different capitalists and social classes that
did well out of the advantages that this shipping provided to increase their capital.
Resumen:
En Cuba, los estudios económicos desde la historia, han abordado temas como
el de la industria azucarera, el comercio, y los servicios públicos. Entre los
servicios públicos, en nuestro estudio se aborda el transporte marítimo de
cabotaje, el cual se desarrolla en la Isla para suplir la comunicación necesaria
entre las diferentes regiones de nuestra geografía, tanto en la transportación de
personas como en el intercambio comercial. El transporte marítimo de cabotaje
es un elemento significativo en el entendimiento del devenir histórico cubano, ya
que, se convirtió en un componente importante para el desarrollo de la economía
de nuestro país. El tema se propone develar como el transporte marítimo de
cabotaje en Jagua, contribuyó a un desarrollo económico notable en el centro-
sur de Cuba, a la vez que involucró a diferentes sectores de la economía regional
y a sus capitalistas principales, los cuales se sirvieron de las ventajas
proporcionadas por el transporte marítimo para hacer crecer su capital.
