The Bachelor's degree in English Language with French as a second language has among its objectives that students learn to translate written texts of various types, functional styles and various themes from the English language, or French, into Spanish. During the years of studies, students mainly work with direct translation while inverse translation remains in the background, despite its importance in practice. On the other hand, although the students receive good general and linguistic preparation, there are shortcomings related to the sociocultural aspects necessary for their performance as translation professionals. In the bibliographic review related to the development of intercultural competence in the teaching-learning process of inverse translation, there is not much research on the subject in the national context; only some of them refer to intercultural competence in translation, but they do not emphasize inverse translation. Due to this, it has been decided, as part of a doctoral program, to research on the development of intercultural competence in the teaching-learning process of inverse translation with the aim of contributing to a better preparation of the future foreign language professionals in Cuba. The usage of various theoretical and empirical methods allowed to come to conclusions about the current situation at the University of Holguín.
La carrera Licenciatura en Lengua Inglesa con segunda lengua francés, tiene entre sus objetivos que los estudiantes aprendan a traducir de la lengua inglesa, o francesa, a la española textos escritos de diversos tipos, estilos funcionales y de diversas temáticas. Durante la carrera se trabaja mayormente la traducción directa y, a pesar de su importancia en la práctica, la traducción inversa queda en un segundo plano. Por otro lado, aunque los estudiantes reciben una buena preparación general y lingüística, existen carencias relacionadas con los aspectos socioculturales necesarios para su desempeño como profesionales de la traducción. En la revisión bibliográfica relacionada con el desarrollo de la competencia intercultural en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la traducción inversa no abundan muchas investigaciones acerca del tema en el contexto nacional; solo algunas de ellas hacen referencia a la competencia intercultural en la traducción, mas no enfatizan en la traducción inversa. Debido a esto, se ha decidido, como parte de un programa doctoral, investigar sobre el desarrollo de la competencia intercultural en el proceso de enseñanza- aprendizaje de la traducción inversa con el objetivo de contribuir a una mejor preparación de los futuros profesionales de las lenguas extranjeras en Cuba. El uso de diversos métodos teóricos y empíricos permitió arribar a conclusiones sobre el estado actual del problema en la Universidad de Holguín.
