The Villareño Group: networks, institutions and power in the central region of Cuba.

The Villareño group constituted a place of strategies governed by social and power relations characterized also by its institutionality. The study of these relationships allows a global approach to the phenomenon of political groups from a perspective of regional and local studies in Historical Science. For this reason, the main objective of the presentation is to synthesize how the power relations of the Villareño group are formed and consolidated from the establishment of networks and the group's own institutionality. The specific objectives are to characterize the social networks that occur within the group and determine the determining institutions in the political game. Methodological triangulation is used as a tool in a research defined as qualitative, multimethod and multistrategic. For this, techniques such as critical analysis and bibliographic review are used, as well as the recording of information and the preparation of synthesis and preliminary conclusions. The main result is that the Villareño group was a space where power relations were established between individuals who participated in the wars of independence and later became politicians, achieving recognition in national political life from their actions initially in the territorial space. from the old province of Las Villas.

El grupo villareño constituyó un lugar de estrategias regido por relaciones sociales y de poder caracterizado además por su institucionalidad. El estudio de estas relaciones permite el acercamiento global al fenómeno de los grupos políticos desde una perspectiva de los estudios regionales y locales en la Ciencia Histórica. Por ello, la ponencia tiene como objetivo principal sintetizar como se conforman y consolidan las relaciones de poder del grupo villareño a partir del establecimiento de redes y de la propia institucionalidad del grupo. Se traza como objetivos específicos caracterizar las redes sociales que se producen al interior del grupo y determinar las instituciones determinantes en el juego político. Se emplea la triangulación metodológica como herramienta en una investigación definida como cualitativa, mutimétodos y multiestratégica. Para ello se recurre a técnicas como el análisis crítico y la revisión bibliográfica, así como el fichaje de información y la elaboración de síntesis y conclusiones preliminares. El principal resultado radica en que el grupo villareño fue un espacio donde se establecieron relaciones de poder entre individuos que participaron en las guerras de independencia y posteriormente se convirtieron en políticos alcanzando reconocimiento en la vida política nacional a partir de sus actuaciones inicialmente en el espacio territorial de la antigua provincia de Las Villas.
