Characterization of investigative skills in anesthesiology and resuscitation residents in the province of Villa Clara.

Abstract

Problem: There is insufficient development of investigative skills in anesthesiology and resuscitation residents to successfully face the demands of contemporary scientific-technical development in relation to their specialty from on-the-job education and the application of the clinical-epidemiological method.
Objective: Characterize the development of investigative skills in the training of anesthesiology and resuscitation residents.
Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out from September 2022 to January 2023 with the universe (5) of anesthesiology and resuscitation residents. Methods of the theoretical level were used: analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive and historical-logical; from the empirical level: documentary analysis, interviews, participant observation; and mathematical-statistical: for the percentage analysis of the results obtained, the statistical package SPSS version. 11.5.
Results: The descriptive study allowed us to identify that anesthesiology and resuscitation residents have limitations in searching for relevant information regarding the research topic and reviewing the literature; deficiencies in the identification and formulation of the scientific problem, the determination and operationalization of the study variables and the oral defense of the reports. Among the main successes are: the adequate determination of the study universe and sample, the correct selection of empirical methods and development of the corresponding instruments.
Conclusions: The characterization of the investigative skills of anesthesiology and resuscitation residents allowed us to confirm that there are potentialities and shortcomings in their investigative performance, as well as the main influential causes.

Problemática: Existe un insuficiente desarrollo de habilidades investigativas en los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación para enfrentar con éxito las exigencias del desarrollo científico-técnico contemporáneo en relación a su especialidad desde la educación en el trabajo y la aplicación del método clínico epidemiológico.
Objetivo: Caracterizar el desarrollo de las habilidades investigativas en la formación de los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación.
Metodología: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal desde septiembre 2022 a enero 2023 con el universo (5) de residentes de anestesiología y reanimación. Se utilizaron métodos del nivel teórico: analítico-sintético, inductivo-deductivo e histórico lógico; del nivel empírico: el análisis documental, entrevistas, observación participante; y matemático-estadísticos: para el análisis porcentual de los resultados obtenidos, el paquete estadístico SPSS versión. 11.5.
Resultados: El estudio descriptivo permitió identificar que los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación presentan limitaciones para la búsqueda de información relevante respecto al tema de investigación y la revisión de la bibliografía; carencias para la identificación y formulación del problema científico, la determinación y operacionalización de las variables del estudio y la defensa oral de los informes. Entre los principales aciertos se encuentran: la adecuada determinación del universo y la muestra de estudio, la correcta selección de los métodos empíricos y elaboración de los instrumentos correspondientes.
Conclusiones: La caracterización de las habilidades investigativas de los residentes de anestesiología y reanimación permitió constatar que existen potencialidades y carencias en su desempeño investigativo, así como las principales causas influyentes.
