DRUGS RELATED PROBLEMS IN ONCOLOGY PATIENTS SERVED AT THE HOSPITAL “DR. CELESTINO HERNANDEZ ROBAU”

Abstract

Introduction: Drug-related problems (DRP) cause negative results in pharmacotherapy (NRM) and affect the quality of life of patients, including those with cancer treatment. Objective: To identify PRM in cancer patients treated at the “Dr. Celestino Hernández Robau” in the years 2020 and 2021. Materials and Methods: The data in the medical records were analyzed and interviews were conducted with the patients to prepare the pharmacotherapeutic file. The identification of PRM was carried out according to the Third Consensus of Granada. Results: A total of 36 PRM were identified, of which: four due to insufficiently treated health problem, eight due to non-compliance, 2 due to self-medication, 1 due to contraindication, 6 due to the probability of adverse events, 12 due to interactions, 2 due to inadequate treatment and 1 for misuse. 32 interventions were proposed to resolve them, with 25 of them being accepted (78.1%). Conclusions: 36 PRM were identified and 25 of them were resolved by pharmaceutical intervention.

Resumen

Introducción: Los problemas relacionados con los medicamentos (PRM) causan resultados negativos en la farmacoterapia (RNM) y afectan la calidad de vida de los pacientes, incluidos aquellos con tratamiento oncológico. Objetivo: Identificar PRM en pacientes oncológicos atendidos en el hospital “Dr. Celestino Hernández Robau” en los años 2020 y 2021. Materiales y Métodos: Se analizaron los datos en las historias clínicas y se realizaron entrevistas a los pacientes para elaborar la ficha farmacoterapéutica. La identificación de los PRM se realizó según el Tercer Consenso de Granada. Resultados: Se identificaron un total de 36 PRM, de ellos: cuatro por problema de salud insuficientemente tratado, ocho por incumplimiento, 2 por automedicación, 1 por contraindicación, 6 por probabilidad de eventos adversos, 12 por interacciones, 2 por pauta inadecuada y 1 por uso erróneo. Se propusieron 32 intervenciones para resolverlos, siendo aceptadas 25 de ellas (78,1%). Conclusiones: Se identificaron 36 PRM y se resolvieron 25 de ellos mediante intervención farmacéutica.
