Gender and Youth challenges to achieve Sustainable Agriculture through the IRES Project

Abstract

The IRES Project is implemented in 7 of the municipalities most affected by the incidents of climate change in Cuba, where young people and gender play a very important role, constituting the driving force in priority tasks, raising productivity, being creative, innovative, included and valued in all aspects, where they are able to develop a way of life that provides sustainability to them and their family, the exchange with society in an equitable way, contributing values, transforming the environment and being more resilient, for this the project It has created 18 classroom schools to provide training in the communities, to encourage love for agriculture, attracting a competitive, inspiring young and feminine workforce, capable of increasing agricultural production, because we believe that rural youth is the future of the food security, today youth and gender in the project is present in 40% of farm administration, in 60% of machinery operation and 50% of livestock and crop management, IRES advances with gender and innovative youth towards climate resilience in Cuban agricultural ecosystems.

El Proyecto IRES se implementa en 7 municipios de los más afectados por las incidencias del cambio climático en Cuba, donde juegan un papel muy importante los jóvenes y el género que constituyen el motor impulsor en las tareas prioritarias elevando la productividad, siendo creativos, innovadores, incluidos y valorados en todos los aspectos, donde son capaces de desarrollar una forma de vida que les proporciona sostenibilidad a ellos y a su familia, el intercambio con la sociedad de forma equitativa aportando valores, transformando el medio y siendo más resilientes, para ello el proyecto ha creado 18 aulas escuelas para dar capacitación en las comunidades, para incentivar el amor por la agricultura, captando una fuerza de trabajo competitiva, inspiradora joven y femenina, capaz de elevar las producciones agrícolas, porque consideramos que la juventud rural es el futuro de la seguridad alimentaria, hoy la juventud y el género en el proyecto está presente en el 40 % de la administración de fincas, en el 60 % de operación de la maquinaria y 50 % del manejo del ganado y los cultivos, IRES avanza con el género y la juventud innovadora hacia la resiliencia climática en ecosistemas agrícolas cubanos.
