Abstract
The article analyzes the use of tools and techniques, including bibliometrics and research information systems, to evaluate scientific production in medical libraries and their impact on the management and use of scientific information. The methodology used involves the identification of relevant material through different bibliographic databases and library catalogs, and discusses the advantages and limitations of each tool and technique. The results can provide valuable information for decision making in relation to research funding or the selection of publications for promotion. The article concludes with recommendations on the careful selection of tools and techniques used depending on the specific objectives of the evaluation.
Resumen
El artículo analiza el uso de herramientas y técnicas, incluyendo la bibliometría y sistemas de información de investigación, para evaluar la producción científica en bibliotecas médicas y su impacto en la gestión y uso de la información científica. La metodología utilizada involucra la identificación del material relevante a través de diferentes bases de datos bibliográficas y catálogos de bibliotecas, y discute las ventajas y limitaciones de cada herramienta y técnica. Los resultados pueden proporcionar información valiosa para la toma de decisiones en relación a la financiación de investigaciones o la selección de publicaciones para su promoción.
