Attentional mechanisms play a central role in the organization and control of complex cognitive functioning, as well as goal-oriented behavior. In the higher education system, it is essential to develop learning strategies where self-organization prevails, proper attentional functioning is essential. However, the specialized bibliography does not report extensive and systematic studies of attentional mechanisms in this population, and they are even lower in our context. For this reason, the objective of this work is to characterize the attentional functioning of a group of university students from the Havana province during the year 2023. For this, we worked with a sample of 179 participants (109 women; X = 20.66 , SD = 2.23). They were evaluated with a classic Stroop Test and the Posner Attentional Networks Test, both computerized using the PsychoPy software. The preliminary results, although they are consistent with what was theoretically expected, point to significant differences with those reported by other authors in other populations. These data can provide reference values for future studies on attentional functioning in the university population.
Los mecanismos atencionales desempeñan un rol central en la organización y control del funcionamiento cognitivo complejo, así como del comportamiento orientado a metas. En el sistema de educación superior es esencial el desarrollo de estrategias de aprendizaje donde prima la auto-organización, el adecuado funcionamiento atencional es fundamental. Sin embargo, en la bibliografía especializada no se reportan estudios amplios y sistemáticos de los mecanismos atencionales en esta población, siendo incluso inferiores en nuestro contexto. Por ello, en el presente trabajo se tiene como objetivo caracterizar el funcionamiento atencional de un grupo de estudiantes universitarios de la provincia La Habana durante el año 2023. Para ello se trabajó con una muestra de 179 participantes (109 mujeres; X = 20,66; DE = 2,23). Fueron evaluados con un Test clásico de Stroop y el Test de Redes Atencionales de Posner, ambos informatizados mediante el software PsychoPy. Los resultados preliminares, si bien son coherentes con lo esperado teóricamente, apuntan a diferencias significativas con los reportados por otros autores en otras poblaciones. Estos datos pueden brindar valores de referencia para futuros estudios sobre el funcionamiento atencional en la población universitaria.
