Methodological guide for teachers promoting distance higher education with the Moodle tool

The vast majority of Cuban universities have integrated Moodle as a learning management system (lMS for the acronym in English of learning management system) because, compared to other web applications, it is more efficient and viable for its didactic use, although until at the moment its full potential has not been exploited, now more than ever its application in the teaching-learning process is necessary due to the current pandemic situation that is plaguing the world and has paralyzed most of the activities. Education as one of the prioritized sectors in Cuba must continue, but looking for new ways to protect health, that is why we have proposed as a general objective to propose a methodological guide for teachers in the use of the Moodle platform as a teaching technology tool for distance higher education. We have structured the methodological guide in four phases or stages, using methods such as inductive deductive, content analysis and synthesis, and scientific observation is used as a methodological technique in the non-participant variant; with the purpose of giving it a logical order and facilitating the transition to knowledge of it and ensuring that it is implemented more frequently, favoring distance learning.

La gran mayoría de las universidades cubanas han integrado a Moodle como sistema de gestión del aprendizaje (lMS por las siglas en inglés de learning management system) porque, en comparación con otras aplicaciones web resulta más eficaz y viable para su uso didáctico, aunque hasta el momento no se ha explotado todo su potencial, ahora más que nunca se hace necesaria su aplicación en el proceso enseñanza- aprendizaje debido a la actual situación pandémica que azota al mundo y ha paralizado la mayoría de las actividades. La educación como uno de los sectores priorizados en Cuba debe continuar, pero buscando nuevas formas para resguardar la salud, es por ello que nos hemos propuesto como objetivo general proponer una guía metodológica para los docentes en el uso de la plataforma Moodle como herramienta tecnológica didáctica para la educación superior a distancia. La guía metodológica la hemos estructurado en cuatro fases o etapas, utilizando métodos como el inductivo deductivo, el análisis y síntesis de contenido y como técnica metodológica se utiliza la observación científica en la variante no participante; con el propósito de darle un orden lógico y facilitar el tránsito al conocimiento de la misma y lograr que se implemente con mayor frecuencia favoreciendo la enseñanza a distancia.
