Standardization in engineering: Its impact on the training of the professional

Abstract

The study developed is aimed at perfecting the teaching-learning process of the Integrative Discipline of the Mechanical Engineering (ME) career. An analytical program of the elective curriculum subject, Normalization in Engineering, is proposed for the second semester of the first year of the Degree, applicable to the "E" curriculum. The program was constituted through interviews with experts and specialists in the field, as well as a broad bibliographic search of both national and international regulations. For this, an analysis of the professional model proposed by the "E" curriculum is made in order to include in the subject the value system to be developed in the students. The subject with six topics and distributed in forty-four hours’ class, was subjected to criticism from experts and specialists being positive in its entirety.

Resumen

El estudio desarrollado está dirigido al perfeccionamiento del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje (PEA) de la Disciplina Integradora de la carrera Ingeniería Mecánica (IM). En el mismo se propone un programa analítico de la asignatura de currículo electivo, Normalización en la Ingeniería, para el segundo semestre del primer año de la Carrera, aplicable al plan de estudios “E”. El programa fue constituido mediante entrevistas a expertos y a especialistas del tema, además de una amplia búsqueda bibliográfica tanto de la normativa nacional como internacional. Para ello se hace un análisis del modelo del profesional propuesto por el plan de estudios “E” con el fin de incluir en la asignatura el sistema de valores a desarrollar en los estudiantes. La asignatura con seis temas y distribuida en cuarenta y cuatro horas clase, fue sometida a críticas de expertos y especialistas siendo positivas en su totalidad.
