Abstract
The Theory of Constraints (TOC) is an effective tool for optimizing production processes by identifying and eliminating bottlenecks. This research developed an improvement model based on TOC, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of operational systems. The model was applied at the UEB Fábrica de Acabado of the “Desembarco del Granma” Textile Company, which faced the challenge of increasing performance with minimal economic, environmental, and social impact. The approach integrated theoretical foundations and sectoral experiences, structuring a procedure in three phases, comprising 10 stages, four steps, and five actions organized in an operational sequence. Its implementation enabled the identification of the main constraint in the production process and the adoption of technical, organizational, hierarchical, and investment measures to improve the sustainable effectiveness of the critical operation and the overall performance of the UEB.
Resumen
La Teoría de las Restricciones (TOC) constituye una herramienta eficaz para optimizar procesos productivos al identificar y eliminar cuellos de botella. Esta investigación desarrolló un modelo de mejora basado en dicha teoría, enfocado en incrementar la eficiencia y sostenibilidad de los sistemas operativos. La propuesta se aplicó en la UEB Fábrica de Acabado de la Empresa Textil “Desembarco del Granma”, ante el desafío de elevar el rendimiento con mínimo impacto económico, ambiental y social. El abordaje integró el análisis de fundamentos teóricos y experiencias sectoriales, estructurando un procedimiento en tres fases, con 10 etapas, cuatro pasos y cinco acciones articuladas en secuencia operativa. Su implementación permitió identificar la restricción principal del proceso y adoptar medidas técnicas, organizativas, jerárquicas y de inversión, orientadas a mejorar la efectividad sostenible de la operación crítica y del desempeño global de la UEB.
