Abstract

Literacy movements with political ties aimed at popular groups have their own theoretical foundations and educational methods. Brazil and Cuba, with their particular political, cultural, and pedagogical contexts, stand out in Latin America for the application of participatory methods to overcome barriers in learning from the methodology of popular education. This theoretical and bibliographic article aims to present two social movements constructed under this perspective in dialogue with the principles of community self-development.

Resumen

Los movimientos de alfabetización con lazos políticos dirigidos a grupos populares tienen bases teóricas y métodos educativos propios. Brasil y Cuba con sus particulares contextos políticos, culturales y pedagógicos, descatan en América Latina la por la aplicación de métodos participativos para superar barreras en el aprendizaje desde la metodología de la educación popular. El presente artículo de naturaleza teórica y bibliográfica tiene como objetivo presentar dos movimientos sociales construidos bajo esta perspectiva en diálogo con los principios del autodesarrollo comunitario.
