Workshop 1: Theoretical, descriptive and applied studies of languages in the contemporary social context
Problem: This work offers the initial results on the study of linguistic marks that indicate gender in given names from the Cuban 19th century. Objectives: The objective is to describe the linguistic marks and the procedures to build a proposal for the gender paradigm of names this period. Methodology: A sample of names extracted from the Alphabetic Index and deaths of the Liberation Army of Cuba is used. The study of this corpus is based on the morphological analysis of given names to determine the procedures and linguistic marks that determine gender. Results and discussion: The morphological procedures involved in gender expression are, first of all, the gender motion fundamentally represented by the morphemes {-o} and {Ø} for the masculine and {-a} for the feminine. Secondly, the motion by derivation, which includes the morphemes {-ino, -ano, -no} for the formation of both the feminine and the masculine. Finally, the presence of epicenes and generic indistinction within the sample. Conclusions: The data allow us to describe the linguistic marks that determine gender in 19th century given names and identify processes that intervene in their realization.
Problemática: Este trabajo ofrece los resultados iniciales sobre el estudio de las marcas lingüísticas que indican el género en los nombres de pila del siglo XIX cubano. Objetivos: Se plantea como objetivo describir las marcas lingüísticas y los procedimientos para construir una propuesta del paradigma de género de los nombres este período. Metodología: Se utiliza una muestra de nombres extraída del Índice Alfabético y defunciones del Ejército Libertador de Cuba. El estudio de este corpus se basa en el análisis morfológico de los nombres de pila para determinar los procedimientos y las marcas lingüísticas que determinan el género. Resultados y discusión: Los procedimientos morfológicos que intervienen en la expresión género son, en primer lugar, la moción de género representada fundamentalmente por los morfemas {-o} y {Ø} para el masculino y {-a} para el femenino. En segundo lugar, la moción por derivación, que incluye los morfemas {-ino, -ano, -no} para la formación tanto del femenino como del masculino. Finalmente, se plantea la presencia de epicenos y si indistinción genérica dentro de la muestra. Conclusiones: Los datos permiten describir las marcas lingüísticas que determinan el género en los nombres de pila del siglo XIX e identificar procesos que intervienen en su realización.
